Reading have entered the race to sign former Nottingham Forest midfielder Alfa Semedo.

Semedo spent last season on loan with the Reds, making 26 appearances before returning to parent club Benfica.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move Preston North End, although reports in the north-west say that deal is not in fact on the cards.

However, it looks like Semedo could find himself at another Championship club this season, with Reading keen on the player, according to the Reading Chronicle.

During his brief stint at the City Ground, Semedo scored two goals from midfield. However, after the resumption of English football in June, Semedo rarely featured in Sabri Lamouchi's team, making just two appearances.
