North Carolina Zoo has a new sand cat kitten

The teacup-sized new arrival is hiding out with its mom, so here's a primer on how secretive sand cats are. Sand kittens in the wild had never been filmed until a few years ago.

Sand cats have several cool adaptations, including fur that covers the pads of their feet so they don't get burned in the Arabian desert. The foot fur also keeps them from leaving footprints.
