Weeks after Yabuku Dogara, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), another prominent northerner has followed suit.
This time, the PDP lost the former governor of Adamawa, James Ngillari, to its strongest rival, APC, The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
According to the confirmation of Ibrahim Bilal, the APC chairman in the state, Ngillari took along with him thousands of PDP supporters to his new party.

Bilal revealed that the former governor left the PDP for the APC in order to enjoy the freedom of political aspiration, not necessarily to seek a position.

He said: “Ngillari decamped to APC after long consultation and he joined the progressive party with thousands of his supporters.
“He told me verbatim that his coming to APC is not to look for any position but to enjoy freedom of political aspiration.”
Bilal went on to disclosed that while the APC at the national level is making preparation to receive the former governor, the party in the state is doing all to ensure internal cooperation and peace ahead of the next general polls.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the commissioner of commerce and industry in Bauchi, Mohammed Al-Hassan Sadiq, resigned from the state's cabinet.

Sadiq announced this decision of his on Tuesday, August 18, in a letter of resignation addressed to Governor Bala Mohammed.
The former commissioner admitted that it was a rare privilege to have served the state in that capacity, an opportunity which according to him, was made possible by the influence of Dogara.
Sadiq disclosed this fact in a part of the letter which read: “I thank H.E the Executive Governor – Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) for the wonderful opportunity accorded to me. In the same vein, I must appreciate my boss, H.E, the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara for his usual support and the role he played in influencing same."
