Star Wars Ultraboost Yoda: Adidas pays tribute to the greatest Jedi master of all time

by

I know, I know. It’s subjective. But Yoda remains as one of the most recognisable faces of the Star Wars franchise, despite the subsequent rise-and-fall of some of his former apprentices. And if you want to pay tribute to the Jedi Grand Master, Adidas is releasing a new pair of Yoda-themed Ultraboost sneakers—complete with an awesome-looking woven picture of Master Yoda on the tongue of the shoes.

The new release comes as part of a collaboration between Star Wars and Adidas to celebrate the 40th anniversary of episode V “Empire Strikes Back”. Just like some of their other specially-themed Ultraboost sneakers, the Ultraboost Yoda has a distinctive look that incorporates the colours of Yoda’s iconic outfit (and skin tone, presumably).

The Primeknit uppers are olive green in colour, while the leather heel and sidecage provide a slightly different tone of green—the entire shoe colourway is made up of different shares of green, actually. Meanwhile, the neon green accents along the laces are supposedly inspired by Yoda’s classic green lightsaber. In fact, you can actually see a miniature neon green stripe on the heel of the shoes that looks a lot like Yoda’s classic green lightsaber.

The Adidas Ultraboost Yoda features a lot of the same tech that you’d get in other Ultraboost shoes: Primeknit textile uppers, textile lining, a leather heel and sidecage, a pre-formed heel for better grip, and of course, the Boost midsole. German retailers Asphaltgold says that the shoes will come in a “special box”, although we don’t know if Adidas will include freebies—some Star Wars merchandise, perhaps?

Meanwhile, an official online release date has been set for the 17th of September on Asphaltgold, with retail pricing set at EUR 179 (~RM880). However, we aren’t sure if the Yoda-inspired Ultraboost model will be available in Malaysia, although we’ll be sure to update this article if we get official word.
