Girl raped, burnt in Fatehpur

In a suspected case of rape and murder in Fatehpur, the semi-burnt nude body of an unknown girl was recovered on Saturday morning.

According to reports, senior police officers rushed to the spot soon after learning about the recovery of the body in Aaung locality of the district. They said that two bangles and a broken mobile phone were found lying on the spot.

The victim appeared to be in her mid-twenties and she was raped and killed somewhere else and later her body thrown at the spot.

A case was registered and efforts were on to find out the identity of the victim.

In Meerut, a youth, identified as Nisar of Kayastha Bada in Kithore, was battered to death late Friday night. The family lodged a report, alleging that Nisar was lynched following a dispute over parking the vehicle but the police suspect some affair led to the murder.

In Bahraich, 25-year-old Amresh of Katra Bahadurganj in Dargah, was in love with 20-year-old Sanju of the same locality but their families were against their affair.

On Friday evening, both eloped after which their families launched a hunt. They were shocked to find their bodies hanging from a tree outside the village on Saturday morning.

A case was registered and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, in a tragic incident in Jaunpur, fire broke out in a house at Sohiya hamlet of Madhiyahon in which 30-year-old Savita Devi and her sons, Divyansh (4) and Digvijay (8), were charred to death.

Manoj Kumar, who runs a fair price shop in the area, claimed that he left for his shop while his wife and children were in the home. He said that all the three were sleeping when the fire broke out due to a short-circuit.

The villagers saw thick smoke coming from the house and they called Savita to come out but when they got no response, they broke open the doors only to find all the three charred to death along with other belongings.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem.

In Sonbhadra, four youths, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, drowned in the Sone river in the Jugel area of the district on Saturday. One of the bodies was recovered.

As per reports, Amit (16), son of Rajesh of Lamsarai village in the Garhwa police station area of Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, Lalpati’s son Anand (14), Rohit (14), son of Lal Bahadur and Kunjilal’s son Rahul (16), had gone to bathe in the Sone river after their coaching classes, along with other friends at around 11:30 am on Saturday.

All four of them started drowning while bathing. Their friends, who had gone with them, informed their families. Subsequently, the police reached the spot along with people of the nearby areas and started searching for the youths.

The body of Anand was recovered. Search for other victims was on.

In another mishap on Saturday early morning, a sleeper bus rammed into a stationary truck on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Talgram locality of Kannauj in which 12 of the 70 passengers were critically injured while the driver and the cleaner were killed on the spot.

The driver was identified as Manish Tewari, a resident of Lucknow. The injured were shifted to the medical college hospital.
