Reguilon snubs Man Utd transfer as Solskjaer is offered cut-price Plan B

Manchester United look set to miss out on Sergio Reguilon after reports in Spain claimed the left-back wanted a move elsewhere.

Several reports have indicated strong United interest in the 23-year-old. He is now back at Real Madrid and on the market for around €30m after impressing at Sevilla.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly an admirer of the Spaniard as he looks to bolster his ranks. Indeed, Solskjaer has reportedly led the charge with a four-year contract offer.

Tottenham are also strongly credited with an interest. They’re on the look out for a new left-back with Danny Rose closing on a surprise move to Italy.

However, AS claims the Spain international does not want to abandon playing for Los Blancos for good. Furthermore, they state Reguilon would rather re-join Sevilla on a season’s loan in order to further his prospects.

The Madrid-based paper claims Reguilon grew up supporting Real and is determined to make the grade there. By departing for the Premier League now, he would be closing the door on that possibility.

Real have long-serving Marcelo and French star Ferland Mendy currently blocking Reguilon’s first-team path.

While a calculated risk, Reguilon knows he is comfortable in Andaluscia, having helped them to Europa League glory.

But the report states he hopes to do enough in his second season with Julen Lopetegui’s side to earn a prolonged stay at the Bernabeu.

United offered cut-price Alex Telles

News of Reguilon’s likely snub will come as a blow for Solskjaer. However, the United boss could find a quick solution in the shape of Alex Telles.

Telles has been a standout performer for Porto ever since joining them from Galatasaray into 2016. He has 24 goals from 194 appearances, as well as numerous assists from left-back.

Reports last week stated the player’s agent was in England last week for talks with United officials over a move.

At the time it was stated Porto were seeking around €30m for the Brazilian.

However, with his contract now having less than 10 months to run, the player has shown no signs of wanting to extend. As such, Porto are under pressure to sell now and, in a bid to tempt suitors, have reduced his price.

As per A Bola, Telles has now been made available for just €20m – and they reckon the price will lure United in, assuming a deal for Reguilon is over.
