In a fresh round of news from the Sandalwood drug scandal that has hit the Kannada film industry, actress Ragini Dwivedi and 7 others' custody has been extended. Actress Ragini and Sanjjanaa Galrani will remain in custody, a special court in Bengaluru said today, extending their arrest, along with that of six others, in an illegal drugs market case. Earlier, there were reports that Ragini has meddled with her urine sample.

A report states that Galrani will remain in police custody till September 16 along with accused Viren Khanna, a high-end party planner, and Ravi - a clerk in the Road Transport Office with links in the Kannada film industry.

The NDTV report also states that Ragini and four others have been sent to judicial custody as their police arrest was not sought. The probe began after prominent producer-director Inderjit Lankesh had appeared before the crime branch and shared information about the alleged use of drugs in the Kannada film industry and named 15 people.

The case is currently being interrogated by the Central Crime Branch (CCB). A recent report also stated that Ragini allegedly tampered with her urine samples. Ragini mixed water with her urine sample, making it unfit for testing. The police official reportedly understood this and, she was apparently made to go for another round of dope test. Reports also suggest that the hair follicle samples have been collected from both Ragini and Sanjjanaa.

A few days back, reports had it that when Sanjjanaa was taken for tests, she had created a ruckus at the hospital, stating that it was her ‘fundamental right’ to say no to a test.
