Kylian Mbappe will be Lionel Messi’s successor at Barcelona
by Nishant NarayananBarcelona should sign Kylian Mbappe amidst plans to leave PSG in 2021.
After denying the chance to extend his contract several times at Paris Saint-Germain several times, the French superstar is tipped to join Barcelona next year. The end of next year will also mark the end of Kylian Mbappe’s time at PSG. The 2018 World Cup winner has been one of the most important assets for the French giants, however, Mbappe has never been comfortable with the club and never really hoped on making a long term deal with the French giants.
Although the club has been very successful in the domestic sphere and boasts an impressive squad with the likes of Neymar, Mario Icardi, and Angel Di Maria, the club is yet to reach the heights these players deserve to be at. Mainly speaking they still have nothing to show in the European trophies department. The team has been spending relentlessly on players and managers to finally win the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy, however, despite the huge backing from the owner, the club has failed to secure it.
This could likely be the reason as to why the 21-year-old desires to leave the club at the end of the season. There is no shadow of a doubt that the World Cup winner deserves to play at the highest level of club football but for him, the domestic challenge alone is not satisfying his hunger. He greatly desires to win the Champions League trophy and he has realized that PSG might not be the club that can help him achieve this dream. Last season’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the finals could also be an import factor to his decision. Things could have looked very different had they won the cup.
A Plethora of clubs has taken a keen interest in the brilliant winger but the most notable club is Barcelona. Mundo Deportivo reports that It is very likely that Mbappe could be on his way to the Catalan side next season as Lionel Messi is tipped to leave the club after fulfilling his contract. The French player will definitely want to play at a prestigious club like Barcelona and with the introduction of a new manager with new philosophies, Mbappe could be absolutely deadly in the Nou Camp.
