1 killed, 3 hurt, in northwest Charlotte crash
by WBTV Web StaffCHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A person was killed, and three others were hurt, in a two-car crash Friday evening in northwest Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a motor vehicle crash just before 8 p.m. in the 1000 block of Little Rock Road.
A Honda and Ford were involved. The driver and only occupant of the Honda, who was identified as 52-year-old Jay La Mour Johnson, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The river of the Ford was identified as Yoshito Toida. He received minor injuries. Two children riding in the back of the Ford were transported to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center – Main by MEDIC and were treated for minor injuries.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, Officers from the DWI Task Force, and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation.
According to police, the Honda was traveling south on Little Rock Road. The driver was traveling too fast around a curve, over-corrected, and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then went into the opposite lane and collided with the Ford.
Neither driver appeared to be impaired.
There were no witnesses identified.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
