The shocking incident happened in Convamore Road, Grimsby

A shocking photograph of the man fleeing in Convamore Road appears to show him carrying something in his other hand.

One witness says they believed the object was a body part, the Grimsby Telegraph reports.

The man was pictured running for refuge at a nearby corner shop.

The incident triggered a major response as police and paramedics rushed to the scene in the town's East Marsh area.

Witnesses say the injured man dashed into the Lifestyle Express shop in a bid to get help following the incident late yesterday afternoon.

He was rushed to hospital after ambulances arrived at the scene.

'CAPTIVE SMASHED THROUGH WINDOW AND RAN FOR HELP'

It's feared the man had been taken hostage at a property in the road after he was forced to leave another address in Cleethorpes earlier that day.

And there are claims the man had been badly beaten by two men before he managed to escape by leaping through a window.

It's reported that the window of a terraced home across the road from the corner shop had been completely smashed.

The house has been sealed off by police.

A heavy police presence was in the area following the incident on Saturday afternoon.

One witness said: "Apparently the man jumped out of the window without any clothes on and ran across the road to a shop.

"It looks like he was treated by paramedics in the shop."

Detectives have since launched an investigation, with officers seen carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

Crime scene investigators have also started combing the street for evidence.

Humberside Police have been asked for comment.
