Police probe second video of child driving lorry M1

POLICE are investigating a second video to emerge of a child driving a lorry on the M1.

It shows a young girl at the steering wheel of the heavy goods vehicle apparently on the motorway near Dungannon in Co Tyrone.

A man and another young girl are also seen in the lorry cab. None appear to be wearing seatbelts.

The person recording the video is also in the cab but cannot be seen in the clip, which has been circulated online.

It follows a video emerging last week which appeared to show a young boy driving a lorry on the M1 near Dungannon.

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Cookstown by police investigating that video. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

In relation to the second video, a PSNI spokesman said: "We are aware of footage which has been shared on social media and are making enquiries."

First Minister and DUP leader Arlene Foster condemned the footage.

The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA tweeted: "Both these crazy videos have been in my constituency.

"This is reckless for the people in the HGVs and other road users. A vehicle like this veering out of control into traffic is unthinkable."

She urged people to help the police "identify these people and make our roads safer".

Seamus Leheny from Logistics UK, formerly known as the Freight Transport Association, expressed his shock and described the footage as "unacceptable".

He said Stormont's infrastructure department, which issues freight licenses, should also investigate.
