by Shruti RhodeTamil film industry's superstar Suriya recently opened up on the death of three students in Tamil Nadu. Two candidates of the highly competitive national medical exam died by suicide before the results were announced. The police officers have confirmed that one of the students had failed in last year's exam and attempted the paper once again, while another student left a suicide note where she mentioned she was 'apprehensive.'
Suriya recently took to Twitter to write about the unfortunate death of the three students. In an official statement, he criticised the court and asked the society to raise their voice against discrimination. Moreover, in the strong-worded statement, Suriya asked people not to be silent spectators in student suicide cases.
He further wrote, "Due to Corona fear, court dispenses justice via video-conferencing, but orders students to fearlessly take exams." The actor further stated that the exam needs to be scrapped as it snatches the opportunities away from poor students.
He shared the statement on Twitter and captioned the post as, "My heart goes out to the three families..! Can't imagine their pain..!!"
Suriya is one of the very few actors who has always taken to his social media handle to address controversial subjects. More recently, the actor was in news for standing up for his wife Jyothika who recently made a statement to say that 'schools, hospitals are as important as temples.' Her statement didn't go down well with social media users who then brutally trolled the actress. But Suriya issued a statement to back his wife and say that "my family fully stands with her opinion in the speech, which is inspired by the teachings of spiritual leaders. We wish to teach our children that humility is more important than religion."
Even with his statement on NEET, numerous fans have come out to support Suriya and have also lauded the actor for being brave enough to voice his opinion.
