Man injured as faulty record player sparks Hanbury house fire in Worcestershire

Three fire crews and an ambulance attended the blaze in Worcestershire caused by a malfunctioning music player

A faulty music player caused a Worcestershire house blaze, leaving one man hurt.

A fire was sparked by a record player shorting at a three-storey house in Hanbury Road in Hanbury shortly after 8.30am on Monday, September 14.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it sent a crew after receiving reports of a property fire in Hanbury.

A spokesman for the service said: “We were called at 8.52am to Hanbury Road in Hanbury following reports of a fire.

“We assessed one patient – a man – for smoke inhalation. He was able to be discharged at the scene.”

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews to the incident.

The brigade’s fire control tweeted: “We were called at 8.48am on Monday (September 14) to a house fire in the ground floor of athree-storey dwelling in Hanbury Road, Hanbury.

“Crews from Bromsgrove, Droitwoch and Redditch attended. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel [to extinguish the blaze]. One casualty with smoke inhalation.”

“A positive pressure ventilation [fan was used to clear smoke from the property].

“The fire was caused by shorting of a record player.”
