Agboola Alfred Ajayi, Ondo deputy governor, has denied rumours being peddled by some members of the opposition sides that he is cash-crunched ahead of the state's guber election.

Ondo governorship election is slated for October 10, 2020, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with the poll looking like a three-horse race.

Ajayi, who is seeking election on the platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLO) will be pulling popularity with his estranged boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of All Progressives Congress (APC), and Eyitayo Jegede of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The embattled deputy governor also boasted that he has resources to finance his campaign despite growing insinuations that lack of fund was the reason ZLP has not launched its campaign.

“As at now, we are stranded in ZLP. Before he joined the party, he told us that he has N10 billion to finance his election but I doubt if he has spent up to N10million since he defected from PDP to ZLP.

“It is disheartening that 30 days to the election, ZLP is yet to appoint Director-General, set up committees and draw up plans for the campaign,” a concerned Ondo citizen said.

Ajayi, who spoke through his media aide Allen Sowore, said rumours were sponsored by the APC and Governor Akeredolu in order to discourage his supporters.
