DraftKings Week 1 Sunday Night Showdown: Picks, advice for Cowboys vs. Rams NFL DFS
by Billy HeyenCowboys vs. Rams should close out the opening Sunday of Week 1 with a lot of points --just what a Sunday Night Football and NFL DFSaudience is looking for. That makes it the perfect candidate for a value captain in a DraftKings Showdown lineup. It also gives you the opportunity to feel better about your season-long leagues by cashing in daily fantasy football to end the night.
Rookie Van Jefferson is our cheap captain pick. The Rams pass as much as any team (and that could be more true with no proven RB on the roster), so Jefferson likely will get the looks required to pay off his small price. And like we often enjoy doing, we're able to jam in five studs in our flex spots to make it more than worthwhile to play Jefferson.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Cowboys vs. Rams
CAPTAIN (1.5x points, 1.5x price): WR Van Jefferson, Rams ($2,400)
Jefferson's outlook trended down, if anything, in the past few days, as reports indicated Josh Reynolds might get No. 3 WR snaps ahead of him early in the season. There's two reasons I actually like that - Jefferson's ownership will be even lower than expected, and in the Rams offense, that might matter less than in most. Jefferson's training camp reviews were glowing, and he will get on the field, whether as the nominal No. 3 or No. 4 WR. And just look at the other five names we can play if we use Jefferson here -- only a few catches from Jefferson should make this lineup great.
FLEX: QB Dak Prescott, Cowboys ($10,800)
Prescott has come a long way from his younger days of just turning around and handing the ball off. He has a great connection with Amari Cooper, so even though we couldn't fit Cooper in, we'll get a piece of all of that production. This should be a fun shootout, so we can't play a lineup here without Dak.
FLEX: RB Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys ($10,400)
Tony Pollard rarely spells Elliott, which means that we should have a piece of every Dallas offensive touchdown by using Zeke, too. He's one of the more sure-thing workhorses in the league, and the Rams have one of the most inexperienced linebacker groups in the league. We'll take that combination.
FLEX: QB Jared Goff, Rams ($9,400)
Goff is a lot more hit-or-miss than Prescott, but Goff also attempted more than 600 passes last year. Sometimes, the best way to find fantasy production is to count on volume, and that's what we're doing here.
FLEX: WR Cooper Kupp, Rams ($8,400)
Kupp is underpriced -- if you want to take a more expensive captain, Kupp would be my pick. He's Goff's top target, equally a threat to rack up 10 catches as he is to get in for a 75-yard touchdown. Kupp should start this season off with a bang in prime time.
FLEX: WR Michael Gallup, Cowboys ($8,000)
If Jalen Ramsey can slow down Cooper, Gallup could be the biggest beneficiary. He has great deep speed and hands, too, making him a multi-faceted threat like Kupp. In a likely high-scoring game, there are eight or more targets in store for Gallup.
