Mum defends feeding her six-month-old baby McDonald's and Burger King
She says the food is just a treat and her baby is also breastfed
by Neil ShawA mum has spoken out to defend her choice to feed her six-month-old baby food from McDonald's and Burger King.
Jamie-Leigh Gibson, from Northern Ireland, said she has been feeding baby Aniyah the fast food treats since she was six months old.
But Jamie-Leigh says Aniya, who is now 16 months old, is also still breastfed so she gets plenty of nutrients.
Jamie-Leigh, 18, spoke up after another mum was slammed for letting her infants eat KFC.
Taking to social media she said: "My one-year-old was eating McDonald’s at six months… she loves herself a handful of chips and a burger."
Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous Magazine, Jamie-Leigh said: "Me and my daughter's doctor know she's healthy and happy, if a child is happy and isn't showing any health issues I don't think people who don't know you should have a say in what your child eats."
She added: "She got her first tooth at five months so we gave her half of a plain kids burger and she was eating away at it.
"Everyone who knows me knew I gave her it and they did say feeding her it might be dangerous. They were more worried she could choke but I didn't see it as a problem as she eats vegetables and fruit too."
Jamie-Leigh, who is expecting her second child, added that McDonald's is "just a treat" and that Aniyah doesn't eat this kind of food all of the time.
