Millie Radford, 19, describes traumatic birth as she shares first snaps of newborn baby
by Ryan Merrifield, https://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/ryan-merrifield/Millie Radford has revealed the details of her traumatic labour before uploading adorable snaps of her newborn baby daughter.
The 19-year-old was rushed into theatre due to birthing complications, later describing how her cute little tot came out "kickboxing" with her fists up.
Ophelia Jo Radford - the latest addition to Britain's biggest family, who live in a former care home in Morecambe, Lancashire - was born on Thursday at 7.05pm.
In an Instagram post, the teen mum said her daughter weighed 7lbs and 12oz, alongside a photo of the cute tot.
In a video posted to YouTube, Millie's mum Sue Radford - who boasts 22 kids of her own - said her daughter did "brilliantly" during the difficult birth.
"Millie managed on gas and air. She came in at six centimeters, and you did brilliantly, didn’t you," said Sue, 45.
"I can’t believe you came in at six centimetres, and she was born five hours later."
Before Ophelia was weighed, mum and grandmother took turns guessing what she might be, with Sue only an ounce out with 7lbs 13oz.
She said her granddaughter was tiny but has "massive feet", adding the baby was not in an ideal position as she came out, with Millie suggesting that's probably why the birth took as long as it did.
Sue said her daughter suffered a "secondary degree tear" and she was left looking after Ophelia while the new mum was in theatre for around two hours, but was since doing "really well".
However, because Millie "spiked a temperature and Ophelia pooed inside Millie just before she was born" doctors wanted to keep her in for 24 hours to check neither had an infection.
Millie has uploaded three photos of Ophelia in a range of outfits, including a Peter Rabbit bib.
Later in the video, Millie is seen arriving back at home where the rest of the Radford clan has baked a cake and are all itching to meet the little baby.
Dad Noel jokes to wife Sue "can we have one" as the family takes it in turns to hold the newborn.
Ophelia was born four days after her due date and just months after Sue's 22nd, baby Heidie, who arrived during coronavirus lockdown in April.
As well as 22 children, Sue and Noel now have four grandkids.
