WATCH: NFL player ejected from game after headbutting referee

The words that so many sports fans were waiting for were finally uttered this evening.

The first NFL Sunday of the season promised plenty of drama, with a couple of heavy matchups.

One of those was between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.

The NFC North rivals were going head to head in an empty Ford Field.

After a cagey start, Detroit linebacker Jamie Collins confronted a referee after a play.

We think he was trying to show the official what had happened to him.

The problem was -- he ended up headbutting the striped whistler.

'Interference' with an official of any kind is an automatic ejection from the game.

Which is exactly what happened Collins.

Needless to say, Lions fans were less than impressed.
