Super Mario is the best gaming franchise, according to a new US poll
by Deirdre O'DonnellThe media outlet National Today is marking the US National Gaming Day with the release of a survey administered to 1000 respondents. Most of this group (47%) voted Super Mario as the best franchise same industry. The household name, the Brothers edition of which celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2020, was followed by Call of Duty (21%); Donkey Kong (19%), GTA (19%) and Pokémon (16%) in these rankings.
The study's participants also reportedly showed no perference for PlayStations over Xbox consoles: 38% of the group nominated either series as the best console. Nintendo products (not differentiated by device) had to make do with 21% of this vote.
31% of these respondents also reported that they gamed daily, with 23% noting that they played 2 or 3 times a week. In terms of mobile gaming, the strongest motivation for doing so was listed as boredom (66%), followed by watching TV at the same time (41%), waiting to go to sleep (39%) and the (somehow always inevitable) habit of doing so while using the bathroom (34%).
