Young man who died in horror motorbike crash is named
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene
by Paige OldfieldA 20-year-old man who died following a horror crash in Wigan has been named locally as Alex Roby.
Alex was riding his motorbike in the Bamburlong area when it collided with a metal barrier on Saturday (September 12).
The accident, involving a Honda CRF250 motorbike, happened on Bryn Gates Lane shortly after 11am.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Alex was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Flowers, framed photographs and other heartfelt gifts have since been left at the scene of the crash.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a spokesman for GMP said.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with further information to contact them.
Sergeant Matt Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has so sadly passed away.
"Our specialist officers are supporting them at this terrible time.
“Our focus is on ensuring we discern the full circumstances surrounding this collision and to do so we need to make sure we speak to any witnesses or people who may have dashcam footage around the area at the time of incident.”
