Borderlands 3 To Get Free Next-Gen Console Upgrades
by Ian CheeBorderlands 3 will be joining The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as another game to get a free next-gen upgrade. Developer Gearbox Software confirmed this during a PAX Online panel that occurred recently.
But beyond confirming the next-gen upgrade, Gearbox did not mention when exactly players will be getting the Borderlands 3 upgrade. But in addition to being free, the upgrade will also see improvements like 60fps framerates and 4K resolutions. Another interesting feature being added is four-player split screen.
Because Gearbox has not provided an exact date when the upgrade will arrive, chances are it will be awhile after the next-generation consoles become available. Microsoft has announced the Xbox Series X and S will be made available on 10 November. Sony hasn’t made a similar move yet, but has an upcoming event when it may make the announcement. Rumours also point to 13 November being a possible date.
At any rate, that’s another game that will be getting a next-gen upgrade with no fuss. Which begs the question: why is Control having so much trouble? Or is it even a technical challenge, instead of than a business decision? The game launched less than a month before Borderlands 3, and The Witcher 3 launched all the way back in 2015.
