Windsor on Albon: "That's where that car should have finished"
by GPblog.comAccording to Peter Windsor, Alexander Albon's third place where he should be with a Red Bull car. Nevertheless, Windsor is happy for the 24-year-old driver because he has finally managed to get a podium place.
"Very good to see him eventually to finish third and to get his first podium," says Windsor in his analysis on his YouTube channel. According to the F1 connoisseur, that's where the RB16 belonged. "That is where that car should have finished. As I say if it had been Max in that race, it would have been Red Bull-Honda 3/4."
According to the Brit, Mercedes was simply too fast, but Renault and Racing Point were obviously a lot slower than the Red Bull car. "But nonetheless you shouldn’t take that away from Alex. He’s had a really difficult and tough year and he will be feeling: wow, I’ve finally delivered," Windsor said.
Albon benefited from the second red flag
According to the experienced journalist, Albon did have some fortune with the second red flag, caused by Lance Stroll. "It should be pointed out yet again though that his race was helped by that last stop and putting everybody on the red tyre and just getting out there and doing a sprint. Had it been a long race with just the normal strategy, I’m not sure whether he would have beaten Daniel Ricciardo in my opinion."
