Una Healy shares ‘trauma’ after Ben Foden divorce
by Alicia AdejobiUna Healy has recalled experiencing ‘trauma’ following her divorce from Ben Foden two years ago, and admits his new marriage came as a ‘big shock’.
The Saturdays singer split from the former rugby player in 2018 after six years of marriage and two children – they share daughter Aoife, eight, and son Tadhg, five.
However last August, Ben, 35, remarried to Jackie Belanoff in a surprise wedding after dating for just two weeks.
It was an understandably heartbreaking time for Una, who admits she struggled with the life-changing experience.
‘I knew I had to pull myself out of it,’ the singer explained to The Sun.
‘I was so irritated by being surrounded by these happy families. It’s a trauma. And going and speaking to someone about a traumatic experience is nothing to be ashamed of.’
She then recalled: ‘Last summer when he got married again, that was a big shock to me. I was like: ”Woah, what is this?” It was something else I had to get my head around. But life goes on… it just moves faster for some than others, obviously!’
Ben and Jackie welcomed their first child together, four-month-old daughter Farrah, in May and he moved to the US with his new family to start afresh.
Una, 38, also got back into dating post-divorce and was in a relationship with David Breen for a year before breaking up in March.
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Una and David have ended things in recent weeks following a holiday to Zanzibar.
‘It was a mutual decision – they realised they are at very different stages of their lives and were struggling to make things work properly. She is a mum and ultimately they decided they wanted different things. But Una is keeping positive.’
