Motorcyclist seriously injured, second driver fails to render aid in North Shore crash

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - One of the drivers involved in a crash on Oahu’s North Shore Saturday evening is wanted by police for failing to render aid.

According to a preliminary investigation, HPD says a Black 2006 Toyota Scion turned onto Kamehameha Highway from Kalou Marsh Road without stopping.

That’s when the driver of a 2007 Triumph motorcycle, heading south, crashed into the driver’s side of the Scion.

It all happened around 5:40 p.m. near Sunset Beach, and forced the closure of the highway in both directions for several hours.

Police say the driver of the the Scion got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Police don’t yet know if alcohol or drugs were factors, but they have ruled out the factor of speed in the crash.

At last check, no word on any arrests.
