Suriya In Contempt Of Court? #TNstandswithSuriya Trending

by

Tamil hero Suriya was deeply upset with the suicide of three students who appeared for the NEET exam. On Sunday Suriya released a note in which he expressed his anguish and found fault with the apex court for giving nod to hold the examination.

However this did not go well with Justice S.M. Subramaniam of the Madras High Court and he had written to the Chief Justice to initiate suo-motu criminal contempt of court proceedings against actor Suriya for his comments. Well, Suriya cited that the courts are working through video conference while students need a physical presence for the exam.

As soon as this news broke out, there are fears that Suriya might be in trouble. But the other way it happened. Suriya is gathering a lot of support and from afternoon #TNstandswithSuriya is trending on social media.

From Kollywood to six former Judges of the Madras High Court have written to the Chief Justice urging the court to refrain from taking action. But the Tamil Nadu Advocates Association (TNAA) opined that Suriya’s letter is like ‘Hate-Speech’ and he should withdraw his statements.
