Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia tests positive for Covid-19, goes into isolation
Manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister of Delhi and prominent AAP leader has gone into self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
by India Today Web DeskDelhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia took to Twitter to announce on Monday that he has tested positive for Covid-19. "I was experiencing mild fever and got myself tested for corona and the report came back positive. I have self-isolated," Sisodia said.
Manish Sisodia went on to add in his tweet in Hindi, "At the moment, I have no fever or any other difficulty at the moment and am absolutely fine. I will recover soon and return to work with all of your blessings."
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed the Delhi Assembly on Monday, telling MLAs, "Apart from the country, it is a matter of pride for Delhi's 2 crore people that each day Delhi is conducting the most number of tests for Covid-19 per 10 lakh population."
On Sunday, Delhi reported 3,329 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 44,884 samples tested for the virus in the last 24 hours. The national capital also recorded 26 more Covid-related deaths and another 3,374 recoveries during the same period.
There are now 2,21,533 confirmed cases of infection in the national capital, including 1,88,122 recovered patients, 4,770 casualties and 28,641 active cases.
A total of 21,84,316 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in Delhi to date. The national capital's infection rate stands at 10.14 per cent while the recovery rate is 84.91 per cent, and death rate is 2.15 per cent. Similarly, the proportion of active cases in comparison to confirmed cases in Delhi is 12.91 per cent at the moment.
