Welcoming the administration initiative to conduct COVID-19 test for shopkeepers and traders in the markets and bazaars, Kashmir Trade Alliance(KTA) said that this initiative will create a sense of security among shopkeepers and consumers.

KTA President Ajaz Shahdhar said that for the past four days, the administration in Srinagar has launched a comprehensive campaign to test the COVID-19 in markets, bazars, shopping malls and other business places on war footing, with positive and far-reaching results.

"If this initiative had been launched earlier, it would have yielded significant results. Still it is not too late, if the scope of these tests are expanded it will be helpful to control the further spread of the Coronavirus," he said.

Shahdhar hoped that the Divisional Administration would reconsider its policy of reopening shops and businesses in alternative days, so that traders and business community could come out of the losses they have suffered from the last six months.

"Now as shopkeepers have been tested for the virus, there is no reason to keep the markets closed on alternate days. The markets should be allowed to continue for a full week," Shahdhar said.
