'Lampard giving it the biggun' - Liverpool fans react to transfer comments from Chelsea boss

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stated he has been 'amused' by Jurgen Klopp's criticism of their spending this summer, which has led Liverpool fans to issue a reaction.

The Blues have splashed the cash ahead of the new Premier League season, spending in excess of £200m to sign the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.

Last week, Klopp said his side have a different approach to clubs 'owned by countries and oligarchs' amid the coronavirus crisis, a reference to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

That did not sit well with Lampard though, who said he found the comments 'slightly amusing' and pointed out some of the figures that Liverpool have spent over the years.

However, fans on social media quickly jumped on those comments to point out that Liverpool's biggest additions, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, were both largely funded by the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

While Chelsea also earned a plethora of funds last summer from the sale of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, the Blues have still spent way over the figure they received for that deal.

That was something that Liverpool fans made sure to point out, as the identified the historic business that Chelsea have done.

Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 4-3 win against Leeds at the weekend.

Chelsea get underway at Brighton this evening - before hosting the Reds at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.
