Porto have sacked the coach of the club's U16 goalkeeper coach after images appeared of him celebrating Benfica's league title in 2016, according to a report in Correio da Manha.

Hélder Esculcas was only appointed this season and started his new job at Porto in August, only for leaked photographs to end his link with the club this week.

The motive for Esculcas's dismissal was images of him on social media celebrating Benfica's third title in as many years in 2016.

Esculcas, 35, paid the price for his links to Porto's historic rivals, with Fernando Gomes, who's in charge of the club's academy, deciding he could not remain in his role.

Benfica followed up their 2016 title with a fourth in a row in 2017, before Porto finally got their crown back in 2018. Benfica won it again in 2019 but Porto are the current champions after winning last season's coronavirus-hit title.

Benfica are Portugal's most successful side with 37 league titles, while Porto are second with 29. Sporting have won it 18 times,
