Tottenham have emerged as potential suitors in the quest to sign Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The deal won’t be straight forward though and will come with certain complications attached to it.

Sorloth is currently on loan at Trabzonspor and their president has confirmed the club are in talks with Tottenham over Sorloth.

The talisman belongs to London rivals Palace, but the Turkish giants will have to buy him if he plays in half of their matches during 2020/21.

RB Leipzig are also interested in securing the man-mountain 24-cap Norway striker which complicates things even further.

The reports from Turkey do suggest that Trabzonspor are in talks with both Tottenham and Crystal Palace to try and do something before the window closes.

Sorloth won the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot last season with 24 goals and that has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 by Everton in their season curtain-raiser and it seems obvious that the Portuguese boss needs to add some firepower.

Harry Kane is clearly the club’s primary striker but he needs some help and the addition of a different option – like Sorloth – might be ideal.

Sorloth, 24 signed for Palace during the mid-season transfer window in 2018, costing the Eagles £9 million from FC Midtjylland (BBC).

He’s failed to hit the heights his potential perhaps promised when he arrived though, scoring just one goal from 20 appearances.

His form at Trabzonspor has been mightily impressive though, with 33 goals from his 49 games in all competitions.

Sorloth certainly won’t be the exciting big-name signing that some Tottenham fans are perhaps craving.

His form at Palace wasn’t great and that will probably make some Spurs fans extremely uncertain over what he could do for Tottenham.

That said, he’d only be heading to Spurs as a backup to Kane and his form at Trabzonspor suggests he’s learnt a lot in Turkey.

At 24 there’s enough to suggest that Sorloth can continue improving and Spurs might be running out of options.

A £16 million bid has reportedly been rejected from Leipzig and if Spurs want the Norwegian they’re going to have to up the ante when it comes to splashing the cash.
