Nigeria records 188 new COVID-19 cases

- Nigeria has announced 188 new cases

In keeping Nigerians abreast of happenings as it relates to the deadly coronavirus, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Friday, September 12, announced a total of 188 new COVID-19 cases in the country.

According to NCDC, Nigeria has now recorded a total of 56, 017 cases so far.

NCDC disclosed this via its verified Twitter handle.

In the released details, Lagos state has 47 cases, while Enugu state trailed with 25 cases.

Plateau and the federal capital territory (FCT) came third and fourth respectively.

Recall that Legit had reported that NCDC on Thursday, September 10, announced that the nation recorded 197 more new cases of the coronavirus.

On its Twitter page, the NCDC revealed that the total confirmed infection in the country as at Thursday night was 55,829 with 1,075 deaths.

However, on the positive side, the agency disclosed that the nation presently has 43,810 recoveries from the deadly virus.

Legit.ng had also reported that in an effort to ensure a safe reopening of the schools amid the highly ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, 2,454 teachers have been trained on safety protocols in Oyo state.

Schools resumption in Oyo has been slated for September 21, with efforts extensively intensified by the state government to flatten the curve when classes fully reopen.

On Tuesday, September 8, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) stated that 2,454 heads of teachers across all educational zones in the state have been trained on reopening.

Legit.ng also reported that the prospect of any immediate plan to fully reopen schools nationwide is still in doubt as the federal government said it was not yet convinced that schools should be reopened for academic activities.

The disclosure was made by Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, the minister of state for education on Thursday, September 10, in Abuja at a meeting of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) COVID-19 held with the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee (NTLC) on National Primary Health.
