Health Ministry: Benteng LD, Bunga and Sungai clusters chalk up more Covid-19 cases

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — The Benteng Lahad Datu (Benteng LD), Bunga and Sungai clusters recorded new Covid-19 cases today, with the Benteng LD cluster recording the highest number of cases, at 17.

Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that the Bunga and Sungai clusters recorded four and one new cases respectively.

He said that 5,402 people were screened under the Benteng LD cluster, from which the 17 new cases were detected.

“Of the total 420 Covid-19 positive cases, 185 were Malaysians while 235 were non-citizens from the Philippines (153 cases) and Indonesia (82 cases),” he said.

On the Bunga cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said that as of noon today, 59 individuals were screened and four new cases were reported, after a second sampling was carried out on 22 crew members onboard a ship docked in Port Dickson.

The four new cases bring the total number of Covid-19 cases for the Bunga cluster to 10.

“As of September 14, 2020 at noon, a total of 16,775 individuals have been screened under the Sungai cluster, and one new case has tested positive for Covid-19,” Dr Noor Hisham added.
