Kim Kardashian is accused of sending the wrong message to pregnant women after announcing her new maternity Skims line. Kim is promoting the maternity shapewear on her official Instagram account, where she has 188 million followers and on the official Skims account where she has 2 million followers. The shapewear will launch on September 16, 2020, but not everyone thinks that it is a wise idea.
Some feel that encouraging pregnant women to wear shapewear might cause them to have body issues and even try to lose weight during their pregnancies. Kim didn’t say anything that would directly cause a woman to think this, but some are worried that the very act of wearing shapewear during pregnancy will have a negative impact.
Kim Kardashian shared the following caption along with a photo of several pregnant models wearing the maternity garment.

Some people immediately praised Kim Kardashian for the new shapewear but others questioned why she would design shapewear for pregnant women.
One commenter stated the following.
“Why would you put shapewear on your pregnant bell.” Another stated the following. “Isn’t wearing shapewear dangerous for your a pregnancy putting that pregnancy at risk?”
While Kim Kardashian touted the garments as being helpful and providing support as a woman goes through pregnancy, one commenter asked if it would hurt the baby.
“Is that even good for the baby and belly ? Don’t you want it not to be compressed ? Pass..”
