One dead, five seriously injured in Omusati crash

A 36-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a car accident on Saturday afternoon when the vehicle he was travelling in collided with another vehicle.

Five other passengers, including a police officer from the Okahao Police Station, were seriously injured.

According to Omusati regional crime investigations coordinator Moses Malakiya, the incident happened at the Onaushe T-junction at the Okathitu Kambanda village in the Omusati region.

Malakiya said the incident happened after the unlicensed driver of a bakkie failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a sedan vehicle.

"One passenger died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Hilux is slightly injured," he said.n

The deceased has been identified as Andreas Nehemia from the Okathitu Kambanda village, and his next of kin have been informed of his death.
