District administration appears to be sour over poor management of BCCL owned and managed Covid hospital.

An inquiry Report by a four member committee headed by sub- divisional magistrate(SDM) Satyendar Kumar has  brought to fore lack of coordination between BCCL hospital staff and district health department nodal officer that has adversely affected functioning hospital in managing the covid patients.

The team set up by deputy commissioner Uma Shankar Singh held detailed investigation based on facts and talks with patients, different available documents  . The report has been handed over to the deputy commissioner.

Talking to The Pioneer the SDM said, “Report has been placed before the DC and further action would be initiated only after his direction.”

He said action on nodal officers has been recommended as they  have been primarily held responsible for poor management that caused deaths of patients too here.

The report was handed over to the DC on Saturday evening and it's likely that action may be taken by Monday.

The BCCL based Covid hospital was one of the first hospitals of Dhanbad that was set up for treating Covid positive patients.

Though nodal officers were appointed by health authorities, the manpower of BCCL hospital including doctors were not placed under control of health department authorities.

Earlier, district administration had served show cause notice to the BCCL doctors who did not report for duty despite being posted at Covid wards.

Then BCCL top authorities had defended the doctors by giving different excuses.

However, the inquiry team that included two trainee Jharkhand Administrative Services (JAS) officers besides a doctor have exposed several lapses in managing Covid patients too.
