by

Hyderabad: Claiming that amid a rise in coronavirus cases and petrol prices, Swiggy has reduced their earning structure, the delivery executives of Swiggy in Hyderabad have announced an indefinite strike from Tuesday.

In a press release, Shaik Salauddin, national general secretary, Indian Federation of App Based Transport Workers, said during the lock-down Swiggy has reduced minimum earning from earlier Rs. 35 to now Rs.15. Even though Rs.35 was collected as delivery charges from customers, a minimum of Rs.15 was being paid to delivery executives.

Also, a batch order was introduced as per which in a single trip, they have to deliver more than one order but in the second order, they were are paid Rs.10 per order.

Salauddin demanded that due to the increase in fuel prices, the executives be paid Rs.10 per km for 0-4km, Rs.15 for 4-8km, and above 8km, Rs 25 per km.

Meanwhile, Swiggy in a statement denied that delivery partners make Rs.15 per order and said most make over Rs 45 per order, with the highest performing partners making over Rs 75 per order. This Rs.15 was only one of the many components of the service fee.

It also clarified that on making more than one delivery on the same trip, they were adequately compensated for the additional few kilometers or minutes.
