Stating that the management of several private pathology labs are not updating complete data about patients tested positive for Covid-19 in the district, the Dehradun district magistrate, Ashish Kumar Srivastava instructed the administration of such labs to update the complete information of every patient as per the guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). According to Srivastava, the team of the district administration has to face difficulties in surveillance of the Covid patients due to their incomplete contact and address information recorded by the private labs. He stated that it is crucial to put all the Covid patients under surveillance in the current crisis. Considering this, Srivastava directed the administration of all the labs to immediately update the full details of the patients on the portal as per the ICMR guidelines as soon as they take the sample and test it.

Meanwhile, the DM also informed that if any government or private organisation calls a team of a private lab for taking samples for Covid-19 test, it will be obligatory for the management of that lab to inform the district surveillance officer before taking any samples in that organisation. Besides, he also directed the owners of these pathology labs to maintain physical distancing and follow other precautions while taking samples from the patients in order to avoid contagion in the premises of the labs.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dehradun district has the highest number of active Covid cases and deaths of Covid positive persons reported in the state. Dehradun has 3,179 active cases and 200 reported deaths of Covid patients so far.
