Terrifying drive-thru Halloween scare maze set to open an hour from Liverpool

The UK’s first ever drive-thru scare maze is opening less than an hour away from Liverpool next month.

The “extremely gruesome” event, located in Wrexham less than an hour from Liverpool , is deemed so scary it comes with a warning.

Organisers of FestEvil say the unique terror experience will "scare the hell out of you from the comfort of your own car."

They also warned that it is “not for the faint-hearted.”

FestEvil features live characters and special effects, with visitors warned that they might have to wash "blood spatter" off their cars afterwards, reports NorthWalesLive .

The horror maze will open in October - just in time for Halloween .

Taking place entirely from the car, participants are warned once a vehicle enters the maze, they must complete the route with no turning back - no matter how scary.

How it works

You won’t need to leave the safety of your car during the event.

You will drive through a series of scenes from your favourite horror movies and TV shows and be greeted by twisted creatures and "unexpected scares" in every drive-thru scene.

When you approach each scene, a traffic light system will be used.

Red means stop your car and switch off your engine, this allows the scene to start and actors to be able to approach your car safely and without being run over.

When the light turns green you turn your engine back on and proceed to the next scare zone.

Some scenes are extremely gruesome and organisers recommend ages 16+ for the attraction. Although any age can attend at the parent's discretion.

Once your car enters, you must complete the event in its entirety, no matter how scary, there's no turning back.

The event is completely contactless and lasts around 20 to 25 minutes.

Your car may need washing after the experience as there may be blood splatters on your windows and doors.

How to get tickets

Tickets range from £12.50 to £18.50 per car depending on the date you book.

The event will run every night from October 16 to November 1 with slots available for booking from 6pm until 10pm daily.

No tickets will be available on the gate. You must purchase tickets in advance online.

Tickets are scanned on arrival through your closed car window.

In response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, organisers say the safety of staff and guests is their top priority and have designed the entire experience with the current health guidelines in mind.

Performers and staff will wear masks while onsite.

Masks have been "cleverly integrated into actors' costumes" and characters will socially distance from each other.

They will also be given temperature checks before entering the site.
