Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch Out Weeks With Broken Collarbone, Blake Jarwin Has Season-Ending ACL Tear
by Darrelle LincolnThe Dallas Cowboys lost more than just their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Rams.
On Monday, it was reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch “cleanly” broke his collarbone and would be out for the next 6 to 8 weeks.
Vander Esch has had a rough time staying healthy over the last year. He played in only nine games in 2019 due to a nerve issue in his neck that required surgery.
Soon after that shocker came the news that tight end Blake Jarwin suffered a ACL tear and would miss the remainder of the season.
This was a non-contact injury for Jarwin, who stopped while running a route before grabbing at the back of his knee.
Here’s that moment:
In 2019, Jarwin appeared in all 16 games and recorded 31 receptions for 365 yards receiving (11.8 YPC) and three touchdowns.
