Zhen Ding to set up flexible PCB plant in Taiwan
by Jay Liu, Taipei; Willis Ke, DIGITIMESZhen Ding Technology has disclosed plans to pour CNY2.74 billion (US401.2 million) into establishing a new flexible PCB plant in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan through its wholly-owned China subsidiary Avary.
This will be Zhen Ding's first production facility in Taiwan. Since its inception in 2006, the Taiwan-based company has been maintaining production facilities in China.
Zhen Ding said the plant project in Kaohsiung will have capacities for both blank flexible boards production and backend modules assembly, and will kick off construction soon after the government approves Avary's investment application.
The back-home investment is seen as a move to support Apple's efforts in diversifying manufacturing bases beyond China, according to industry sources.
The sources said Zhen Ding's move is expected to motivate more Taiwanese peers with manufacturing plants in China to increase investments at home, eventually achieving a significant PCB cluster in Taiwan.
