LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Cape Coral High School officials confirm an individual who was on campus has tested positive for COVID-19.

School officials say the Florida Department of Health is in the process of contacting those who are directly impacted.

After learning about the positive case, school officials say crews deep cleaned and sanitized campus spaces.

Officials say this will not affect the overall face-to-face instruction at the school, and classes will resume as normal on September 14, 2020.

The Lee County School District is reminding everyone to follow safety guidelines:

-Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

-Stay home from school if you are sick.

-Stay home if you are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.

-Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.

-Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

-Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
