Woman’s death in Winyates Way, Redditch, now treated as ‘unexplained’

A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on police bail, has now been released pending further investigation

The death of a woman at a property in Worcestershire is now being treated as unexplained, with a man arrested on suspicion of murder released from bail.

The body of a woman in her 40s was found at an address in Winyates Way, Redditch on Monday, August 31.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene. The death was originally treated as suspicious and the man was detained on suspicion of murder, but had been bailed to return on September 24.

West Mercia Police has now confirmed the man has been released from bail and released under investigation.

Police have yet to confirm the outcome of a post-mortem examination.

At the time of the incident West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer after receiving a call at 8.14pm on Monday, August 31 but said the woman was confirmed dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the force said: “The man originally arrested has been released from bail, and subsequently released under investigation with enquiries ongoing.

“Officers are waiting on full results of toxicology and continue to treat the victim’s death as unexplained.”
