Report: Spurs among leaders in Sergio Reguilon race

by

Tottenham Hotspur may soon have a better idea of how likely a move for Sergio Reguilon is this summer, with Daily Mail reporting that talks over the left-back’s future are set to intensify this week.

Reguilon looks set to leave Real Madrid during this window. And it would appear that he may be on the way to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail reports Spurs and Manchester United are leading the race for the 23-year-old. It is suggested that Los Blancos are willing to sell the defender as they boast plenty of depth in that area of the pitch.

And the Mail has suggested that talks over his future are expected to step up a gear this week. He is reportedly available for £25 million.

TBR View: Reguilon deal would provide timely boost for Tottenham

It remains to be seen if Spurs can capitalise on their current position and sign the 23-year-old. But it would certainly provide a timely boost if Tottenham could bring the youngster in.

Jose Mourinho may feel a little additional pressure following their opening day defeat to Everton. And signing someone like Reguilon would surely be a great response.

He is excellent at both ends of the pitch, and young enough to develop further in the coming years.

And while Tottenham have plenty of depth at left-back, it would arguably feel like a missed opportunity for some fans if he completes a £25 million move elsewhere.
