Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Willian Jose agreement, Alexander Sorloth complications
The latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumours as Jose Mourinho looks to solve forward issue
by Jonty ColmanTottenham Hotspur’s Premier League season started with a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton yesterday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed in the winner from Lucas Digne’s free-kick early in the second half, with Jose Mourinho losing his opening Premier League game of a season for the first time in his career.
Ahead of the game, Mourinho publicly stated that Spurs needed to sign a striker this summer before the transfer window closes.
Since then, plenty of forwards have been linked with a move to north London.
Here are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.
Spurs plotting Willian Jose move
After reported interest in Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik and Torino’s Andrea Belotti has not been followed up, Spurs have now been linked with an interest in Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose.
The 28-year-old has spent the past four years with the Spanish top-flight side and has scored 49 La Liga goals for them.
Calciomercato are reporting that Spurs have had a deal agreed with the San Sebastian club since last January.
Any move for Willian Jose is set to cost between 20 and 25 million euros.
Burnley join race for Swedish forward
Burnley are reportedly keen on plotting an £8m move to sign Spurs ‘target’ Robin Quaison from Bundesliga side Mainz.
The 26-year-old, who has been linked with Tottenham earlier this summer, is said to have a £14m buy-out clause. However, the Daily Mail are reporting that Sean Dyche’s side will attempt to sign Quaison for a lower fee.
Quaison, who is a versatile attacker that can play as an attacking midfielder, winger, or a second striker, scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season.
The former Palermo attacker has 17 caps for Sweden’s senior side, scoring seven times.
Crystal Palace striker linked with Spurs
Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth is wanted by Spurs, according to reports in Turkey.
Norwegian international Sorloth, who has been in superb form on loan at Trabzonspor after scoring 33 times in 49 appearances since the start of last season, has now been linked with a move to Mourinho’s side by Turkish outlet Fanatik.
However, any move would be complicated as part of Sörloth’s current loan agreement means that if he plays in half of Trabzonspor’s games this season, the Turkish club would have an obligation to buy him.
Sorloth did not feature in Trabzonspor’s defeat to Besiktas yesterday.
