Marks and Spencer now sell giant Percy Pig toy - perfect for Christmas
by Sarah Bradbury, https://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/sarah-bradbury/This year has been challenging for everyone and probably hasn’t been the one most of us had planned. Thankfully we can always rely on Marks and Spencer to make everything better and it starts with Percy Pig.
Percy is undoubtedly the nation’s favourite pig, every year over 400 million individual Percy Pig sweets are sold - that’s 10 sweets every second. He’s been in our lives since 1992 and this week M&S brings Percy fans the ultimate early Christmas present, launching life-size Percy toys for the very first time.
From tomorrow, September 15th, customers will step into store and be greeted with smiling Percy in two sizes - choose between a larger limited-edition Giant Percy Pig Toy (£25) at a statuesque 90cm tall or a Large Percy Pig Toy (£15) standing at 60cm.
To find your nearest Marks and Spencer, we’ve popped the store locator here. You’ll also find opening and closing time information listed there as well.
The loveable and famous pink pig is here to give the nation what we’ve all been missing a hug. The nation has been missing hugs the most this year, with over two thirds admitting a lack of hugs is getting them down. Fortunately, Percy Pig is taking real life form as a big, squishy, cuddle-tastic toy and is ready to comfort the nation. In a year when hugs have been in drastically short supply, it doesn’t matter if you need a giant cuddle or a little pig to lean on, Percy has ready-made hugs for all.
At such amazing value, these ‘real life’ Percy Pigs are set to send fans wild, we predict customers rushing to stores to get their hands on them - we definitely will.
The Percy soft toys build on this popularity and are just part of an even bigger expansion of the range with a series of new and exciting Percy gifting launching from September onwards - M&S have really gone the whole hog. So, if you don’t want to wait until Christmas morning to find Percy in your stocking (and we don’t blame you), then get your mitts on him now before he’s gone.
Percy’s biggest fan, Jonny Rhodes from Bristol, is so committed to the nation’s favourite pig that he sports a large Percy tattoo! As holder of superfan status, Jonny was given a sneak peek ahead of the launch...
“The timing for this badboy couldn’t be better- a hug from Percy Pig is just what we all need right now! Winter is coming and the nights are getting longer here in Bristol, so Percy is the number 1 house guest and I’d give his hugs a 10/10 for fluffy goodness! I’ve been a Percy fan for as long as I can remember, so being the first to see a real ‘life’ Percy for the first time is an absolute treat. I’m sure the rest of the Percy Pig fanbase will love these toys as well as the rest of the Percy range. What better way to kick the festivities off early than with a giant cuddly Percy Pig!”
This summer, Percy caused a stir with the launch of Percy Pig ice cream, selling over 70,000 tubs in the first four weeks! This has since been joined by new Party Time Percy sweets which are a mash up of six different fruity flavours and are already the number 2 top selling line in the range, just behind original Percy Pig sweets! As well as all new Percy Phizzy Pop which comes in that iconic Percy Pink and is proving popular with media and customers alike.
