Mystery lottery winner has just four weeks to claim £58m EuroMillions jackpot

A Lottery winner has a month to claim close to £58 million or it will be donated to charity - for a draw made prior to lockdown in March.

The oblivious punter - who bought the ticket in south Ayrshire - scooped the EuroMillions jackpot of £57,879,670, meaning they would instantly become as rich as Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.

But at midnight on September 13 it will go to good causes unless the ticket holder comes forward.

The numbers for the March 17 draw were 5, 7, 8, 16 and 20, with the Lucky Stars 2 and 12.

Andy Carter, of the National Lottery, told The Sun : "We’re desperate to find this mystery holder and unite them with this massive prize.

"We’re urging everyone who might have bought a ticket in this area to check."

The day after the original appeal went out  a joiner near Rochdale discovered he had also scooped £58m.

Ryan Hoyle discovered the EuroMillions win while checking his emails at 6am on April 18.

The self-employed joiner, who normally buys his tickets in store but who has been playing online during the lockdown, spotted an email from The National Lottery with the title, ‘You’ve Won’.

The 38-year-old said: "I always wake up early and was sat on the edge of my bed but couldn’t work out what I was looking at."

While mum Charmaine Watson, who scooped £2.3million on the Lottery, revealed earlier this month she still makes her three children do chores for pocket money to teach them hard work pays.

The 40-year-old, was living on benefits as a single mum to baby son Ryan, now 16, when she landed the jackpot.

In 2018, some £125.1million in prizes was not collected across all the lottery games.

Players have up to 180 days from the day of a draw to claim their winnings.

A Camelot spokesperson said the majority of prizes that start as unclaimed do get snapped up before the deadline, with some on holiday for the draw.

They added that "we can only speculate as the reason why" when a winner fails to claim their prize - though said it is best to play online as paper tickets can be lost.

It comes as no ticket-holders scooped the top prize in the midweek Lotto draw, making Saturday's jackpot an estimated £10.7 million.

Some 41 lucky players earned themselves £1,750 each after matching five numbers.

There were no top prize winners in the Lotto HotPicks draw, but six ticket-holders won £13,000 each after matching four out of five numbers.

No-one scooped the top prize in the Thunderball draw.
