Ireland weather: Long range forecast shows temperatures to hang in the mid 20s until next week but change is on the way

Met Eireann has said that we can look forward to more hot weather into next week but it’s likely things will change beyond that as we welcome the Autumn months

Ireland’s Indian summer is set to continue across the country this week with temperatures to hang around the early 20s in the coming days.

The sunny rays which are gracing the country today will continue right throughout the week and Tuesday is is no exception with the mercury set to climb to a balmy 23C.

Thankfully Met Eireann has said that we can look forward to more of the same into next week but it’s likely things will change beyond that as we welcome the Autumn months.

Met Eireann forecaster Matthew Martin told the Irish Mirror: “The decent spell of weather looks like it will stay with us until the early days of next week for sure.”

“We have very high pressure in the continent at the moment and that’s steering up some very warm air particularly in France and England and that’s obviously affecting us giving us temperatures about five or six degrees above average.

“That will continue through Wednesday. Our weather still remains fairly settled with temperatures to reduce back to around the average for the time of year but through until the middle days of next week will remain very settled.

“Beyond that obviously it’s hard to say but it looks like the weather will break down beyond next week to something a little more unsettled.”

While a spate of dry weather is here to stay the western counties will see some patches of rain on Tuesday.

On Wednesday we can look forward to maximum temperatures ranging from 20 to 22 degrees generally, but it’s expected to be a little cooler in east Ulster and along Irish Sea coasts with the cool breezes capping temperatures at 17 to 19 degrees in the area.

Met Eireann has predicted that Thursday will start out dry with some cloud and sunny intervals, once early mist and fog patches lift.

A smattering of showers may develop in the afternoon though, mainly in Munster and Connacht and it will be coolest in the east and northeast and warmest in the west.

Looking ahead to the weekend Met Eireann has added that Friday will be dry in most area with sunny spells but showers will affect the west and northwest.

Early indications for Saturday and Sunday show settled conditions indicated with high pressure dominating the weather pattern, though there is a possibility of some rain or showers in the south.
