Tyron Woodley says Nick Diaz has ‘done enough in his career’ to be inducted into UFC HOF
by Lewis MckeeverThere’s no denying Nick Diaz’s massive popularity and cult-like following, but is the former Strikeforce welterweight champion worthy of UFC Hall of Fame status?
Yes, says former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who originally wanted to fight Diaz after KO’ing Robbie Lawler to capture the welterweight title in 2016.
UFC gold has always eluded Diaz but that’s not a good enough reason to deny the 37-year-old veteran his spot in the Hall of Fame, ‘T-Wood’ said on a recent episode of The Hollywood Beatdown.
“He’s done enough in his career, in my opinion, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” Woodley said (h/t TMZ Sports).
Diaz, who made his UFC debut back in 2003 with a submission win over Jeremy Jackson, holds notable victories over Robbie Lawler, B.J. Penn, and Paul Daley. Despite never winning a UFC title the Stockton bad boy is widely considered one of the most skilled and well-rounded fighters in the sport and has a reputation as one of the ‘bad motherf-ckers’ in MMA.
Diaz recently completed a 14-week training and diet regiment and is expected to return to the UFC later this year.
