A 20-year-old man has died following a horror crash in Wigan

Police were called to reports a motorbike had collided with a metal barrier in the Bamburlong area on Saturday (September 12). 

The incident, involving a Honda CRF250 motorbike, happened on Bryn Gates Lane shortly after 11am. 

Emergency services attended the scene but the rider of the bike – a 20-year-old man – was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a spokesman for GMP said. 

Officers are appealing for anyone with further information to contact them.

Sergeant Matt Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has so sadly passed away. Our specialist officers are supporting them at this terrible time.

“Our focus is on ensuring we discern the full circumstances surrounding this collision and to do so we need to make sure we speak to any witnesses or people who may have dashcam footage around the area at the time of incident.”
