‘Pay the man’ - Tony Ferguson asks Dana White to push through with Dustin Poirier bout

by

The highly anticipated bout between fan friendly sluggers Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier has been put off after negotiations stalled.

Poirier, who has constantly put on incredible wars and entertaining bouts through the years, said he “needs to be compensated” better. The UFC predictably wouldn’t budge, with Dana White saying they’re “not even trying to salvage it” and will simply find a new opponent instead.

Ferguson doesn’t seem to like the idea of changing opponents, and took to social media to support Poirier’s cause. He told White to “pay the man” and push through with the original match up that people have been looking forward to.

““Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid” Pay the man @danawhite @ufc,” Ferguson wrote. “Love ya’ll but let’s give the Hardcore & Casual fans what they deserve, a good fight Sir”

Poirier has since said that while it’s unlikely that he’ll compete next month, he’s still open to facing Ferguson on a later date, if they can come to terms.

That’s a big “if” though. Despite White bragging about how much the company has grown during this pandemic, the UFC has been firm on not giving in during fighters’ attempts to negotiate.

Poirier has responded to Ferguson’s tweets.
